A wedding reception at a contemporary art gallery was the perfect venue for Paul and I. We were planning a fairly small to medium size wedding and Galerie Gora was able to accommodate 80 guests for a relaxed, classy Cocktail Dinatoire, which is a fancy name for a cocktail wedding. Initially I was not too keen on the idea of having a buffet style dinner; however, Lyne, the owner of the gallery, quickly reassured us that it would not be a typical buffet. And it certainly was not. The experienced chef, who had recently returned from Europe, had plenty of modern ideas up his sleeve for an exceptional menu. Our guests were greeted with a sparkling wine and a variety of hors d’oeuvres to tempt the taste buds. One hour later, four food stations were organized, which catered to various appetites as well as guests who were vegetarian. Each station displayed fresh, well- presented foods that disappeared very quickly! Compliments to the chef were whispered among the guests through out the evening. Galerie Gora displays a different art exhibition every month, which provided such a unique atmosphere for a wedding reception. In addition, the decorations, which Lyne created were very simple and inviting. We were given the choice of having a jazz pianist early in the night to provide our guests with some music as they arrived. Later in the evening Paul and I had designed a slideshow and created our own play list on our ipod. We had no problems using the gallery’s audiovisual equipment. Guests quickly migrated to the dance floor, which was fully equipped with disco balls and mood lights. We had an exceptional night that we will remember forever. Many of our guests commented on the venue we had selected and complimented us on organizing such a successful and fun evening. It was one of the most unique and enjoyable wedding receptions some of them had ever attended. Thank you to Lyne and her staff for helping to make our wedding such a pleasurable evening !

Nous sommes de retour de vacances, toujours la tête remplie de merveilleux souvenirs de notre mariage; c’était comme nous l’avions imaginé dans nos rêves – c’était magique! We are located downtown Montreal, in the heart of its cultural and business district, at 279 Sherbrooke West, corner of Parc Avenue and Bleury. The gallery is on the 2nd floor, dominating the corner of Parc Avenue and Sherbrooke with its 35 windows. The building is almost a hundred years old, and it is one of the rare buildings in Montreal to have retained its original entry hall design.

Metro : Two minutes from the Place-des-Arts Metro (exit Bleury).

Parking : Two minutes away from the parking lot on Bleury at a cost of $8 after 5pm and weekends.

Built in the 1920s, the building that houses Gallery Gora has had quite a history. From the 1920′s to the early 1950′s, it was used by Teller Motor Sales Ltd, a dealership for Chrysler, Plymouth, and Ford automobiles. The upper levels, which were once used as a mechanic shop, now house contemporary art. Originally, the showroom was located on the ground floor and later housed a Royal Bank of Canada branch. The 3rd generation of the Teller family maintains its ownership of the building.
